 The Golden Temple, or Sri Harmandir Sahib, located in Amritsar, Punjab, is the holiest shrine in Sikhism, renowned for its stunning gold-covered architecture and spiritual significance

  • History & Structure: Founded by Guru Ram Das in 1577, the structure was later rebuilt in marble and gold by Maharaja Ranjit Singh in the 1830s. It sits in the center of the Amrit Sarovar (Pool of Nectar).
  • Significance: It is the spiritual heart of Sikhism, housing the holy scripture, the Guru Granth Sahib. It welcomes people of all backgrounds, emphasizing equality.
  • Langar (Community Kitchen): The temple operates one of the world’s largest free community kitchens, serving thousands people.
 

Day 1 – Arrival in Amritsar

  • Arrival at Amritsar Railway Station / Airport

  • Hotel check-in and freshen up

  • Visit Golden Temple (Darshan)

  • Experience Langar (free community meal)

  • Visit Jallianwala Bagh Memorial
